Netflix recommends 5 Mbps to stream SD content on one device and 25 Mbps for 4K Ultra HD content, but you'll want faster speeds if you plan on connecting several devices to the web at once. Depending on number of devices and what you are doing online, 100-200 Mbps should work for most households.

Many factors affect Internet speed, such as traffic, line conditions, your hardware and software, the data source or destination, and your location. Advertised speeds are indexed to a wired connection to the cable modem. WiFi should be considered a service that replaces a wire with radio waves for the sake of convenience, but it sacrifices speed and performance to achieve. WiFi speeds are better when configured for 5.8 Ghz rather than 2.4 Ghz, but WiFi is shared with all other WiFi-enabled networks and devices in the vicinity— not just your own devices in your home—so speeds can be substantially slower than a wired connection.
Here are some tips to help you get a better experience from your BELD broadband connection:
Which cable modem? We recommend you use a BELD-supplied DOCSIS 3.0 WiFi modem/router combo, or you can use your own compatible cable modem and/or router. BELD Broadband uses a DOCSIS 3.0 standard. You’ll need a DOCSIS 3.0-capable modem to access speeds above 20 Mbps.
Check your WiFi. For best results make sure your equipment is in a high location, and that there aren’t large objects blocking the WiFi signal. Also, make sure devices like microwave ovens or portable phones aren’t causing interference. Here are some home networking tips that may come in handy if you want to configure your own equipment.
Troubleshoot your devices. Sometimes powering your modem off and then on again can fix many connection problems. You can also schedule downloads and other bandwidth-heavy tasks to occur during off-peak times. Check to see how many devices are accessing your connection at the same time— you may need to limit how many are using the net during times of peak traffic.
