Braintree Electric Light Department (BELD) is one of 41 municipal light departments organized under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 164, and one of more than 2,200 municipally owned light departments in the country. BELD is recognized locally and nationally as an innovator in technology and new services. In 2000, after running a new hybrid fiber coax network throughout the town, the department began offering High-Speed Internet service to Braintree residents. Over the following years, that was expanded to include phone services to both residents and businesses in town.

High Speed Internet $39.95

BELD's 100 Mbps Internet service gives you the speed you need for your entire family to stream movies and play online games without any arguments or data caps!

Public Power to the rescue

We dispatched crews to CT to help in the restoration after Isaias.

mutualaid2020Hurricane Isaias wreaked havoc on many parts of Connecticut, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of residents in early August. We dispatched two of our Mutual Aid crews to give our Public Power friends over at Wallingford Electric Division a hand with the power restoration efforts.

Have you noticed an increase in your electric bill?

Due to higher usage, you may see an increase in your electric bill.

As expected, with everyone streaming, video chatting, gaming and working from home these days, we've seen a spike in Internet and electrical usage. Along with the extremely warmer then normal temperatures and air conditioners running longer then normal, some residents usages have increased. Meaning most will see increases in their electric bills.

Wi-Fi: improve your signal

wfsigOver the past few months, the Internet has been more of a lifeline than ever, streaming movies and live TV, connecting us to work, to our friends and to our families. Whether we are binge-watching the entire season of Yellowstone, working through Microsoft Meeting, the kids are “in class” via Google Meet or we’re using Zoom for a virtual happy hour—we have become accustomed to live streaming almost daily.
