6/25 Press release; 1 Gigabit Internet launch

BELD BROADBAND TO LAUNCH GIGABIT SPEED INTERNET SERVICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 24, 2019

BRAINTREE, MA—BELD Broadband, Braintree’s community-owned and -operated broadband department, will launch Internet download speeds up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) later this summer, General Manager Bill Bottiggi announced.

The department’s new 1-gig service will be ideal for streaming video, online gaming and accessible cloud backups. Ten times faster than BELD Broadband’s popular 100 Mbps service—available to new customers for $39.95 a month for the first year—1G will allow customers to accommodate multiple users with less network congestion, according to Bottiggi.

“With gig service BELD Broadband will continue to remain competitive, offering our customers what they need in their homes and offices,” Bottiggi said. “We have been upgrading our network for new IP services, making online work and play more feasible and responsive. Faster download speeds will allow us to maintain our high network reliability while keeping rates affordable for Braintree residents and businesses.”

Complete details—including price—will be announced in the coming months, Bottiggi said.
